  • the road back to you: an enneagram study

wednesdays at 10:00 am beginning may 1st

    room 202

Have you ever heard of an "Enneagram?" It is an ancient personality type system that can help us learn more about who we are and how we operate. In The Road Back to You, authors Ian Morgan Cron and Suzanne Stabile access the wisdom of the Enneagram, connecting it with Christian spirituality to help us become our most authentic selves.

For 5-weeks, Rev. Matt Hall will use The Road Back to You to help you learn more about what drives our behavior and how God created us.

The cost for the study is $20 which pays for the book and a study guide. You can bring the money to the first class or bring it by the Church Office.

Please sign up for the class by clicking here by April 29th.

For more information please contact Rev. Matt Hall at mhall@1stchurch.org or call him at 276-733-5207 .

  • Covenant Bible Studies

The Bible is a great tool to use in our daily lives, but too often many of us only study it a few verses or possibly a few chapters at a time. The Covenant Bible Study offers a chance to study the entire Bible in a way designed to better fit in to your busy schedules.

This in-depth study is divided into three 8-week sessions that will be begin at different times during the year with breaks in between each session.

    Session 1 - Creating

    Session 2 - Living

    Session 3 - Trusting

The United Methodist Women is an organization celebrating 150 years in mission to others.  This group is committed to cultivating the spiritual life of its members and contributing to mission projects, locally, regionally and internationally.

Men's Bible Study

Thursday mornings at 6:30 am in Room 254

The Men’s Bible Study group has been meeting on Thursday mornings for about four years. The group typically uses a video-based and discussion-led format to explore the Bible and grow in the understanding of faith and practice.  This study typically has 10 to 15 men who attend that are in the age range from 40 to 90; younger and older are welcome.

On the second Thursday of each month from 10:00 am to Noon, a group meets here at the church to knit prayer shawls and other items to be given to people who are ill, have suffered a loss or are in the midst of a crisis.  The group also knits blankets for infants being baptized.

There are two ways to be involved in this ministry.  You can knit or crochet a shawl or blanket ore give a financial donation to the group.  Each shawl costs about $15.
