ways to serve

Church can happen when giving your time gives

someone new hope and

when opening hearts inspires joy.

God calls us to serve others.  Together through Christ we can do big things.  Here at 1st UMC, you will find volunteers working faithfully with ministries like Welcome Table, Celebrate Recovery and Family Promise.  But the work doesn't stop there.  (Scroll down the page for a look at the outreach and witness efforts of 1st UMC).

Volunteers from the church are working across the community, across the country and around the world, helping improve the lives of others.  Below are the most pressing volunteer needs here at

1st UMC, but there are plenty more opportunities for you to serve.

If you are looking to help in another area click here for a look at the volunteer needs by ministry and/or organization.  You can also scroll down to fill out the Mission/Ministry Interest Form to tell us how you are interested in Serving at 1st.

Three of our biggest ministries rely on the dedication of dozens of volunteers.  Two of them (Welcome Table and Celebrate Recovery) happen weekly and Family Promise happens several times throughout the year.

Each month during 2018 we will highlight a mission or ministry of 1st UMC and give you more hands-on opportunities to help throughout the year.

Outreach ministries at 1st UMC are based on

this scripture from Acts which gives us a call to "Go.Do."

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witness in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the Earth.

                                                                                                                                                                                                       Acts 1:8

Throughout the year, the people of 1st UMC support dozens of missions and ministries,

many of them through their volunteer work.

Generally 30% of the church tithes and offerings are allocated toward

the Mission & Compassion Outreach of the church.
