Disciples: Becoming, Being & Making
The mission of the United Methodist Church is described in ¶120 of The 2016 Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church: “The mission of the Church is to make disciple of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”
That seems fair enough.
But what’s our role in that mission?
Are we the ones being made into disciples?
Are we supposed to be the ones making disciples of others?
The answer is yes on all counts. We are becoming and being disciples so that we can make disciples. It’s when we’re doing all of the above that world transformation happens.
