worship at 1st

  • When you come to this informal worship service expected to be greeted when you arrive and be sure to greet the people around you.  Get your day started with the sounds of the Morning Glory Chorus and an inspirational message .

  • During each worship service you'll hear the joyful sounds of treasured hymns, the voices of a large choir,  the majesty of a pipe organ and a message designed to inspire you.  At times you will also hear the alluring melodies of handbells, guest musicians and the sounds of children's choirs. The Sanctuary built in the late 1960's was renovated in 2015 to enhance your worship experience.

  • The atmosphere in this service is responsive and engaging and a fit for every age. In this modern worship service, you will see a wide demographic represented. Come as you are and be prepared to encounter the Living God in a beautiful, life-changing way.

  • When children worship God, amazing things happen! At 1st UMC children are an important part of the church family and are welcome in EVERY worship service. For those who choose, we offer a worship service just for children 3-years-old through Kindergarten.

Kid's Own Worship is offered during during both 10:30 a.m. worship services.  At approximately 10:45 the children are given the opportunity to go with adult leaders to the children's hall where they participate in worship time specifically tailored to their age.

  • The Celebrate Recovery ministry models a healthy Christ-centered community of sustained recovery.  This recovery ministry seeks to reclaim, restore, and rebuild broken people into living testimonies for Jesus.   Wednesday evenings begin with a free meal at 5:30 pm.  Worship is at 6:30 pm and at 7:40 pm Share Groups meet.  You can learn more about this ministry at CRMaryvilleTN.com

A go.do. opportunity

new worship ministry

In March 2024 we begin offering a worship opportunity for residents of Clover Hill Senior Living at 2317 U.S. 411 in Maryville, on the third Sunday of each month at 2:00 pm.

During each service, we will spend about thirty minutes with the residents, singing a few hymns and sharing a brief devotional message.

This is a great opportunity to share your musical gift - especially if you can accompany hymn singing with your guitar or by playing the piano.

Another volunteer opportunity is to share a ten-minute devotional message.

If you would like to help out or learn more about this ministry, please contact Rev. Jonathan Jonas.
