What happened at the event?

This event was held on May 9th here at 1st UMC-Maryville.

Nearly 280 people attended.

Conversations about possible splits in the United Methodist Denomination have some people asking.

  • Why should we go Forward United?
  • Can we go Forward United?
  • and How do we go Forward United?

Clergy and lay members of the Holston Conference were invited to this day long event where attendees imagined how the church can stay together rather than splitting apart.

Throughout the morning and afternoon there were special presentations, panel discussions and conversations around the tables where people:

  • Talked about important issues facing the United Methodist Church and the Holston Conference
  • Encouraged and equipped each other to find our common ground in future ministry
  • And articulated compelling, exciting visions for the future of the Holston Conference.
