When winter weather arrives in the region it's a good idea to prepare in an effort to stay safe. At 1st Church we want to ensure that everyone stays informed about the ways we handle inclement weather in regard to programming.
Our first priority is always your safety. While we love gathering together, please use your best judgment when deciding whether to venture out during winter storms.
Here is a general idea on how we communicate schedule changes and program cancelations.
Sunday Worship & Programming
- Services will continue: In some form, worship will always happen on Sunday mornings (and that might mean just one worship service). If you cannot make it here in person, you can join us online at 1stchurch.org/watch or on our YouTube channel.
- Much of our programming relies on our wonderful volunteers. If travel is difficult for them, please be aware that certain things like childcare, Sunday School, or specific music elements of worship may be unavailable.
- Decision Timeline: For Sunday morning worship, we commit to making an effort to arrive at a decision regarding changes and/or cancelations by 6:00 pm on Saturday evening. This will help ensure that messages get out to as many people as possible. Please continue monitoring church communications channels for any updates.
Weekday Activities
For activities happening at 1st Church, Monday through Friday, remember that we follow the Maryville City Schools inclement weather decisions:
- If schools are closed due to weather, there will be no activities at the church.
Where to Find Updates
If we need to cancel or adjust our schedule in any way, we will post updates in the following places:
- Email: An alert will be sent to those on our email lists.
- Website: Check the homepage at 1stchurch.org.
- Social Media: Follow us on Facebook and check out our Instagram Stories and posts.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we work to keep everyone safe. We look forward to seeing you, whether in the pews and chairs, or online!
