People waving palm branches, children processing down the aisles and voices raised in choruses of "Hosanna!" These are the things that come to mind when we think of Palm Sunday. But what exactly are we celebrating? Jesus received a grand welcome as he came to Jerusalem. The city was anxiously awaiting his visit as the people there were celebrating a big religious festival. Palm Sunday marks the beginning of a week where we learn of the last days of Christ, the crucifixion and ultimately the resurrection. Palm Sunday and the days that follow remind us of the miracle to come, one representing God's love and grace for us all. As a community of faith, the people of 1st United Methodist Church have been worshipping for more than 150 years.
