URGENT NEEDS FOR FLOOD RELIEF
1st United Methodist Church is responding to relief efforts following massive flooding throughout Southern Appalachia and in preparation for Hurricane Milton damage. Below you will find several ways you can help. Most of these are in conjunction with efforts of the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). This organization is part of the United Methodist Church. Administrative costs of UMCOR are supported by the thousands of UM churches around the world. When you donate to UMCOR, 100% of your money goes to relief work.
(Please bring kits and/or items below to the front office of the church during business hours
of 9 to 4, Monday through Friday or on Sunday mornings from 8 am to Noon. )
Assemble a Kit
Hygiene kits are simple to assemble kits.
They provide basic necessities to those who are most vulnerable during times of crisis.
Cleaning kits (also called Flood Buckets) enable people affected by floods and other disasters
to begin the overwhelming job of cleaning up.
Local stockpiles of these kits are already being put to use in flooded areas.
UMCOR works to keep ample supplies on hand for times when disaster strikes.
